Wetherby and District Camera Club:

is a long established photographic society which grew out of a night school class for photographic learners over forty years ago. There are weekly meetings from September through to April. During last season membership was around 40 and most members are very active both in the club and in photography more widely.

Meetings are supported by the club's own equipment which includes a fixed screen, slide projectors, a laptop with relevant software (including Photoshop CS2), and a digital projector.  This allows us to run competitions for all four of the categories of image described on the competitions page. The use of the digital projector is increasingly important in the club's programme.

We have a modest annual subscription of £33 for the season which, as in previous years, includes tea or coffee and biscuits! There are no additional competition entry or meeting fees for the club's activities each Tuesday. Our principal aim is to help all members enjoy their photography by giving them opportunities to acquire skills and techniques which will assist them in improving their image making. Our membership includes photographers of wide ranging skills and experience and there are those involved in both digital and film photography. A few still produce their own negatives and prints in a darkroom and several have active experience of using formats larger than 35mm film. All are very ready to offer advice and help on the use of a camera and image editing software in order to help improve your own photography.

Whatever your own photographic knowledge we hope that you will find something to interest you and also to inspire you to go out and take more and better photographs. Just come along any Tuesday, between September and April, at 19.30 to St. James’ Parish Hall in Wetherby and introduce yourself.
