Club News - Dec 2017

Welcome to the December 2017 Wetherby and District Camera club newsletter.

Our membership is growing back to the levels of years ago and we’ve hit over 30 members again. We thank all new and existing members for their participation and hope you are enjoying the 2017-18 season so far. We’ve had some excellent speakers so far and some very close competitions with a lot more to come in 2018.

December is always a shorter month with the holidays but we have 3 meetings including the Christmas Social Evening.

Portfolio Night. All members are invited to bring along 5 images on a USB stick for projection. Please resize your images to 1400 x 1050.

12th December 2017
Judging of the Les Smith and Raffles competition.
This competition is intended to create wonder in the interest of nature and to improve the techniques in this branch of photography. Last seasons winner was Ian Butterworth with “Mountain Goat” and the previous season it was Stuart Whitfield with “White Rhinos”.

19th December 2017
Christmas Social Evening. Our last get together for 2017. There will be a two part “What is it” quiz based on household items and on shop fronts (with names removed) in Wetherby. We will also be doing a three way matching competition with commercial images only so please bring a long a selection of images from magazines etc preferably stuck to a piece of card (nothing fancy required, cardboard from a cereal box will do).

Important: Also Submit entries for Ingram 3 (Pictorial). “A pictorial image, in the photographic sense, is one which arouses an emotional response in the viewer and it is the intensity of that response that is the primary criterion for judging the picture”.

Don’t forget you can submit up to 2 images in each of the media B&W Print, Colour Print and Projected Digital Images (max of 1400x1050 resolution).

Please remember: If you submit a print entry please also bring a digital version on a USB stick.
