Club News - Mar 2020

March Mini Newsletter

Due to the enforced end to the season, we have drafted a mini newsletter with information that we would have presented to the club on the awards evening. We have also and set you some small tasks to keep yourselves busy.

Competition Results

We have loaded the full Ingram results on the website, 97 seems to be the winning score ! remember it is the best fives scores which count towards the results (before you all tell me the sheets do not add up).

In addition, Brian and Mark have worked hard to up load all the winning images for this seasons trophies.

The New Season’s Programme

The provisional programme for the 2020/21 season is now on the website. This is the programme we would have given out at the AGM.

It is a 27 week season with 7 lectures including a couple of returning lecturers ending on 23rd March with the prize giving and AGM.

I am sure there will be some slight adjustments when the Committee meets but the lectures and competition dates should not alter.

Prepare a Gallery for the Website

During the current enforced absence, we would like each member to produce a gallery of 12 photographs (for the website), as it would be great to see some new work on the web.

You can choose any subject or just create a general gallery, ideally with previously unseen images or photo’s used this season, it could be even be a creative gallery. But not rust, Ian.

2020 Monthly Challenge

In these difficult times, you will not be able to get out and about with your cameras. In order to try to keep you interested and occupied during the forced lay-off, the Committee have devised a series of monthly challenges, which can be carried out at home, if you wish to participate.   You will be given a topic/theme each month and can submit ONE image to represent that title.

You should email your image to Brian Cooper at brianacooper1@outlook.com to arrive no later than 11:59pm on the last*** Sunday of the month. These images will then be forwarded to the other Committee members, who will score each image (out of 20), Brian will collate all the scores, take an average for each image and the results then published on the 1st day of the following month. The new subject will be announced concurrently. This will enable everyone to participate, including Committee members, who will not score their own image.

*** Date subject to change

  • The usual rules about sizing, etc. will apply and your image must carry your competition number and title.

The first topic is “Opposites” – please interpret this as you wish. Your image (just one) should be submitted no later than 11:59pm on Sunday 26th April 2020. Late entries cannot be accepted.   Results are to be published 1st May.

And finally, we hope to publish a couple more mini newsletters this spring, so if you have any interesting content to include, please email us.
